Relationship Therapy for Adults and Couples

You’ve noticed the same patterns showing up in your relationships. You want your relationships to feel different but you don’t know how. Maybe you don’t even know what’s wrong, just that something is missing. Many of my clients discover these relationship patterns actually go back much further than they thought. Perhaps you have trauma from relationships.

Maybe conflict leaves you feeling anxious. You replay conversations for hours, apologize when you haven't done anything wrong, or shut down when emotions get intense. You can see the patterns playing out but have no idea how to change them.

You may recognize some of this:

  • Overthinking every text message or conversation.

  • Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions.

  • Avoiding conflict at all costs.

  • Struggling to trust people.

  • Constantly questioning whether you're enough.

  • Feeling guilty whenever you say "no."

What We Do in Sessions

We are going to start with where you are, not where you think you should be. We’ll slow down, take some time to understand and name the patterns you notice keeping your relationships stuck. I believe we can’t address or change what we don’t understand.

We can learn so much about how we show up in our roles in life from our earliest relationships. Some of the ways we protect ourselves started as adaptive responses to the environments we grew up in. These experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves throughout our entire lives, not just in childhood.

In understanding where these patterns started, we will address the experiences that were impactful. This can look like processing memories, attachment styles, or relationships dynamics.

Once we have a good grasp on what’s actually happening in your relationships, we’ll figure out how you want to move forward. We’ll identify healthy ways to take care of yourself in your relationships.

What Getting Better Looks Like

The goal isn’t about becoming someone different. It never is. The goal is to understand how we show up in our relationships (or avoid them) and why. Knowing those two things allows you to play an active role in your relationships, rather than reacting in the moment.

Imagine how much space your brain would have to dream or explore if it weren’t analyzing every interaction, preparing to be ten steps ahead, or trying to decide if you are doing or just are enough.

Many of my clients, both individuals and couples, learn how to build relationships that feel safe. Ones where they feel seen and appreciated. They start setting boundaries at work or with friends and family without feeling guilty. Conflict feels less scary and threatening.

You deserve relationships where you don't have to constantly question your worth or brace for conflict. If you're ready to create healthier, more secure relationships, let's talk. Schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
